Pearls like these were de rigueur, don’tcha know! So was White Tie, at this inaugural UNICEF Audrey Hepburn Society Ball which raised $650,000 in funds for UNICEF worldwide operations.
Glitz & glamour, diamonds & emeralds, gowns & tails—they all mixed in the Hollywood themed event held at Houston’s Wortham Theater as Margaret Alkek Williams was honored for her extraordinary philanthropic work with UNICEF. Margaret was the first person in the U.S. to receive the Audrey Hepburn Society Philanthropist of the Year Award in recognition for her induction into the Audrey Circle, the highest level of this Society, with her extraordinarily generous support of the UNICEF and Baylor International Pediatrics AIDS Initiative partnership.
Artesana Rosewood Residences® and Coldwell Banker SMART—exclusive representatives for the homes wrapping the Rosewood San Miguel, Mexico’s Number One ranked hotel—were proud to have donated a holiday stay at this magnificent Rosewood Casa for the event’s auction. Local San Miguel de Allende resident and part-time Houstonian Bobbi Kirlin coordinated the donation and then donned a stunning red evening gown to attend. You were gorgeous, darlin’!
Ladies, you’ll be pleased to know that “Desperate Housewives” and “Dallas” star Jesse Metcalfe served as emcee for the evening, but we thought this stunning archival photo of Audrey herself was more befitting a wrap-up of such a spectacular event. After all, Audrey was a girl who knew how to wear pearls… and how to support her charitable causes!
